The Robert Burwell Lectureship in Catalysis is sponsored by Johnson Matthey Catalysts Division and administered by The North American Catalysis Society. It is to be awarded biennially in odd-numbered years. The award consists of a plaque and an honorarium of $5,000. An additional $4,500 is available to cover travelling expenses in North America. The awardee is expected to lecture at many of the local catalysis clubs.

The award is given in recognition of substantial contributions to one or more areas in the field of catalysis with emphasis on discovery and understanding of catalytic phenomena, catalytic reaction mechanisms and identification and description of catalytic sites and species. The Awardee will be selected on the basis of his/her contributions to the catalytic literature and the current timeliness of these research contributions. The recipient may be invited to (1) visit and lecture to each of the affiliated Clubs/Societies with which mutually satisfactory arrangements can be made and (2) prepare a review paper(s) for publication covering these lectures. Publication will be in an appropriate periodical.

Selection of the Award winner will be made by a committee of renowned scientists and engineers appointed by the President of The North American Catalysis Society. Selection shall be made without regard for age, sex, nationality or affiliation. Posthumous awards will be made only when knowledge of the awardee’s death is received after announcement of the Award Committee’s decision. Nomination packages should indicate the nominee’s qualifications, accomplishments with CV, a nominating letter, no more than two seconding letters and a biography of the nominee. A critical evaluation of the significance of candidate’s qualifications should be made as well as a statement of the particular contribution(s) on which the nomination is based. Nomination packages for the Award must be received by 1 April 2013 in one complete package.

Catalysis Society of Japan will organize this meeting as a continuation of TOCAT (1990), TOCAT2 (1994), TOCAT3 (1998), TOCAT4 (2002), TOCAT5 (2006) and TOCAT6/APCAT5 (2010). The past six TOCAT conferences have earned a good reputation as a new series of international conferences on catalysis that has significantly filled the gap between research and technology in catalysis.

Scope
Stimulating closer ties between academia and industry and encouraging young researchers in the field of catalysis are the central concept of this conference. This conference sould greatly contribute to exchanging new ideas and technologies and promoting developments of new outstanding catalysts and systems under the scope that catalysis is a highly and eagerly demanded technology in industries and for sustainable society and drives innovation in many other fields.

Papers on the following topics are welcome.

11th International Symposium: Scientific Bases for the Preparation of Heterogeneous Catalysts — PREPA11
Jul 6 – Jul 11 all-day

Website: 11th International Symposium: PREPA 11

It has become a tradition that every four years, the Université catholique de Louvain and the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven jointly organize a symposium devoted to the scientific bases for the preparation of heterogeneous catalysts. These meetings bring together researchers from academia and industry and offer a forum for discussions on the chemistry involved in the preparation of industrial heterogeneous catalysts.
We cordially invite all scientists active in the field of heterogeneous catalysis to participate in the 11th International Symposium on Scientific Bases for the Preparation of Heterogeneous Catalysts.

The scientific program will consist of invited lectures, oral and poster presentations.

Contributions are solicited that focus on the aspects of catalyst preparation. Reports on physico-chemical characteristics of catalysts and catalytic performances should be limited to correlations with the preparation parameters.

Papers will be selected by a scientific committee, consisting of representatives from industry of catalysis (manufacturers and users), based on the scientific value of the abstract, novelty and the compliance of the subject to the symposium topics.

Main Topics

  • Innovative approaches in catalyst preparation for specific performances and purposes
  • Advanced preparations of catalysts and supports
  • Key concepts and tools in catalyst preparation
