The GS sheets in the inclu\u00adsion com\u00adpounds behave as \u201cmol\u00ade\u00adc\u00adu\u00adlar jaws\u201d in which organomono\u00adsul\u00adfonate groups pro\u00adject\u00ading from oppos\u00ading sheets clamp down on the guest mol\u00ade\u00adcules, form\u00ading ordered inter\u00addig\u00adi\u00adtat\u00aded arrays of the host organ\u00adic groups and guests. Guest-free and inclu\u00adsion com\u00adpounds dis\u00adplay a vari\u00adety of archi\u00adtec\u00adtures that reveal the struc\u00adtur\u00adal integri\u00adty of two-dimen\u00adsion\u00adal GS sheet and the unique abil\u00adi\u00adty of these hosts to con\u00adform to the steric demands of the organ\u00adic guests. Cer\u00adtain GMS host-guest com\u00adbi\u00adna\u00adtions prompt for\u00adma\u00adtion of tubu\u00adlar inclu\u00adsion com\u00adpounds in which the GS sheet curls into cylin\u00adders with reten\u00adtion of the 2D GS net\u00adwork. The cylin\u00adders assem\u00adble into hexag\u00ado\u00adnal arrays through inter\u00addig\u00adi\u00adta\u00adtion of the organosul\u00adfonate residues that project from their out\u00ader sur\u00adfaces, crys\u00adtal\u00adliz\u00ading in high sym\u00adme\u00adtry trig\u00ado\u00adnal or hexag\u00ado\u00adnal space groups. This unique exam\u00adple of net\u00adwork cur\u00adva\u00adture and struc\u00adtur\u00adal iso\u00admerism between lamel\u00adlar and cylin\u00addri\u00adcal struc\u00adtures, with reten\u00adtion of supramol\u00ade\u00adc\u00adu\u00adlar con\u00adnec\u00adtiv\u00adi\u00adty, is rem\u00adi\u00adnis\u00adcent of the phase behav\u00adior observed in sur\u00adfac\u00adtant microstruc\u00adtures and block copoly\u00admers. The large num\u00adber of host-guest com\u00adbi\u00adna\u00adtions explored here per\u00admits group\u00ading of the inclu\u00adsion com\u00adpound archi\u00adtec\u00adtures accord\u00ading to the shape of the guests and the rel\u00ada\u00adtive vol\u00adumes of the organomono\u00adsul\u00adfonate groups, enabling more reli\u00adable struc\u00adture pre\u00addic\u00adtion for this class of com\u00adpounds than for mol\u00ade\u00adc\u00adu\u00adlar crys\u00adtals in gen\u00ader\u00adal. More recent results that demon\u00adstrate the inclu\u00adsion of laser dyes with con\u00adtrolled states of aggre\u00adga\u00adtion, the intro\u00adduc\u00adtion of mol\u00ade\u00adc\u00adu\u00adlar cap\u00adsules, and unusu\u00adal high sym\u00adme\u00adtry struc\u00adtures will be described.<br>\n<br>\n<strong>Speaker\u2019s Biog\u00adra\u00adphy<\/strong> \u2014 Michael Ward earned his B.A in Chem\u00adistry from William Pater\u00adson Col\u00adlege of New Jer\u00adsey in 1977, and PhD in Chem\u00adistry from Prince\u00adton Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty in 1981.
