Results con\u00adfirm that slow decar\u00adbony\u00adla\u00adtion of prod\u00aduct alde\u00adhyde deposit\u00aded unsat\u00adu\u00adrat\u00aded hydro\u00adcar\u00adbon on the sur\u00adface that blocked access to the active sites. Addi\u00adtion of Bi as a pro\u00admot\u00ader did not pre\u00advent the decar\u00adbony\u00adla\u00adtion side reac\u00adtion, but instead enhanced the acti\u00adva\u00adtion of dioxy\u00adgen dur\u00ading the cat\u00adalyt\u00adic cycle. In an effort to avoid the use of pre\u00adcious met\u00adals alto\u00adgeth\u00ader, the oxi\u00adda\u00adtion of alco\u00adhols over atom\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly-dis\u00adpersed, non-pre\u00adcious met\u00adal cations (Fe, Cu, and Co) locat\u00aded in a nitro\u00adgen-doped car\u00adbon matrix was demon\u00adstrat\u00aded.
