The selec\u00adtion rec\u00adog\u00adnizes his sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant con\u00adtri\u00adbu\u00adtions to the sci\u00adence and prac\u00adtice of catal\u00ady\u00adsis, along with his efforts in men\u00adtor\u00ading young sci\u00aden\u00adtists. <\/p>\n

Dr. Sen\u00adgup\u00adta earned his Ph.D. Chem\u00adi\u00adcal Engi\u00adneer\u00ading from the Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty of Delaware in 1991 and has held a vari\u00adety of research and devel\u00adop\u00adment assign\u00adments at DuPont. He was the found\u00ading leader of the Process Devel\u00adop\u00adment Cen\u00adter for DuPont Chem\u00adi\u00adcal Solu\u00adtions Enter\u00adprise and his efforts led to the com\u00admer\u00adcial\u00adiza\u00adtion of sev\u00ader\u00adal new spe\u00adcial\u00adty chem\u00adi\u00adcal prod\u00aducts and opti\u00admiza\u00adtion of sev\u00ader\u00adal exist\u00ading cat\u00ada\u00adlysts and cat\u00adalyt\u00adic process\u00ades, which col\u00adlec\u00adtive\u00adly gen\u00ader\u00adate tens of mil\u00adlions of dol\u00adlars. <\/p>\n

To achieve these accom\u00adplish\u00adments, Sen\u00adgup\u00adta applies an in depth under\u00adstand\u00ading of het\u00adero\u00adge\u00adneous cat\u00ada\u00adlyst struc\u00adture \/ func\u00adtion rela\u00adtion\u00adships in oxide mate\u00adri\u00adals, sup\u00adport\u00aded met\u00adal cat\u00ada\u00adlysts and bulk met\u00adal cat\u00ada\u00adlysts. He was a pri\u00adma\u00adry con\u00adtrib\u00adu\u00adtor to a nov\u00adel process for on-demand hydro\u00adgen cyanide pro\u00adduc\u00adtion via induc\u00adtion heat\u00ading of Pt-Rh gauze and opti\u00admized oxide sup\u00adport\u00aded base met\u00adal cat\u00ada\u00adlysts for abate\u00adment of ozone deplet\u00ading efflu\u00adent gas\u00ades. Recent\u00adly, Dr. Sen\u00adgup\u00adta has direct\u00aded his exper\u00adtise toward the uti\u00adliza\u00adtion of bio-renew\u00adable resources for the pro\u00adduc\u00adtion of fuels and chem\u00adi\u00adcals. <\/p>\n

Beyond tech\u00adni\u00adcal con\u00adtri\u00adbu\u00adtions, he is rec\u00adog\u00adnized for his efforts at men\u00adtor\u00ading young sci\u00aden\u00adtists and engi\u00adneers. Count\u00adless careers have ben\u00ade\u00adfit\u00aded from his tech\u00adni\u00adcal and orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion\u00adal insights. He has shared these through for\u00admal inter\u00adac\u00adtions, such serv\u00ading as instruc\u00adtor for a short course on Hydro\u00adgena\u00adtion Catal\u00ady\u00adsis and on the board of the Catal\u00ady\u00adsis Club of Philadel\u00adphia but more impor\u00adtant\u00adly through per\u00adson\u00adal inter\u00adac\u00adtions with junior col\u00adleagues. The Catal\u00ady\u00adsis Club of Philadel\u00adphia is proud to rec\u00adog\u00adnize Dr. Sourav Sen\u00adgup\u00adta for his com\u00adbi\u00adna\u00adtion of tech\u00adni\u00adcal excel\u00adlence and men\u00adtor\u00ading with the grant\u00adi\u00adng of its 2015 award.<\/p>\n
