The syn\u00adthe\u00adsis and cat\u00adalyt\u00adic behav\u00adior inves\u00adti\u00adga\u00adtion of meso\/mi\u00adcro-zeo\u00adlites has become the sub\u00adject of intense research. This talk high\u00adlights the syn\u00adthe\u00adsis and cat\u00adalyt\u00adic char\u00adac\u00adter\u00adi\u00adza\u00adtions of three emerg\u00ading acidic meso-\/mi\u00adcro-porous lamel\u00adlar zeo\u00adlite mate\u00adri\u00adals (self-pil\u00adlared MFI, pil\u00adlared MFI, mul\u00adti\u00adl\u00adamel\u00adlar MFI), with a focus on their cat\u00adalyt\u00adic behav\u00adior inves\u00adti\u00adga\u00adtions using ethanol dehy\u00addra\u00adtion, monomol\u00ade\u00adc\u00adu\u00adlar con\u00adver\u00adsion of propane and isobu\u00adtane, and alky\u00adla\u00adtion of mesity\u00adlene with ben\u00adzyl alco\u00adhol as probe reac\u00adtions. The rate and appar\u00adent acti\u00adva\u00adtion ener\u00adgy of the cat\u00adalyt\u00adic ethanol and small alka\u00adne probe reac\u00adtions in zeo\u00adlites pos\u00adsess\u00ading dual micro- and meso-poros\u00adi\u00adty was com\u00adpa\u00adra\u00adble to con\u00adven\u00adtion\u00adal micro\u00adp\u00adorous MFI mate\u00adri\u00adals, imply\u00ading that the cat\u00adalyt\u00adic behav\u00adior of Br\u00f8n\u00adst\u00aded acid sites in mate\u00adri\u00adals with dual meso-\/mi\u00adcro-poros\u00adi\u00adty is pref\u00ader\u00aden\u00adtial\u00adly dom\u00adi\u00adnat\u00aded by the micro\u00adp\u00adorous envi\u00adron\u00adment pos\u00adsi\u00adbly because it pro\u00advides a bet\u00adter fit for adsorp\u00adtion of small alka\u00adne or alco\u00adhol reac\u00adtant mol\u00ade\u00adcules. The appar\u00adent rate con\u00adstant of the cat\u00adalyt\u00adic alky\u00adla\u00adtion of mesity\u00adlene with ben\u00adzyl alco\u00adhol in meso\/mi\u00adcro-porous zeo\u00adlites was high\u00ader than that of their micro\u00adp\u00adorous ana\u00adlogues, reveal\u00ading the role of the meso\u00adporos\u00adi\u00adty in space-demand\u00ading cat\u00adalyt\u00adic reac\u00adtions. Her PhD work focused on Devel\u00adop\u00adment of Nov\u00adel Elec\u00adtrolyte Mem\u00adbranes for Inter\u00adme\u00addi\u00adate Tem\u00adper\u00ada\u00adture Fuel Cells. After grad\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion, she did two year of post-doc\u00adtor\u00adate in Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty of Min\u00adneso\u00adta with Prof. Michael Tsap\u00adat\u00adsis and Prof. Aditya Bhan, focus\u00ading on the syn\u00adthe\u00adsis and char\u00adac\u00adter\u00adi\u00adza\u00adtion of nov\u00adel meso-\/mi\u00adcro\u00adp\u00adorous zeo\u00adlite cat\u00ada\u00adlysts. In 2012, Dongx\u00adia Liu joined the depart\u00adment of chem\u00adi\u00adcal and bio\u00admol\u00ade\u00adc\u00adu\u00adlar engi\u00adneer\u00ading at the Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty of Mary\u00adland as an assis\u00adtant pro\u00adfes\u00adsor.
