The Catal\u00ady\u00adsis Club of Philadel\u00adphia is pleased to announce that Dr. David Olson is the recip\u00adi\u00adent of the 2008 Catal\u00ady\u00adsis Club of Philadel\u00adphia Award. The award is giv\u00aden for out\u00adstand\u00ading con\u00adtri\u00adbu\u00adtion to the advance\u00adment of catal\u00ady\u00adsis. Such advance\u00adment can be sci\u00aden\u00adtif\u00adic, tech\u00adno\u00adlog\u00adi\u00adcal or in orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion lead\u00ader\u00adship.<\/p>\n

The 2008 Award rec\u00adog\u00adnizes Dr. Olson for his inno\u00adv\u00ada\u00adtive and pio\u00adneer\u00ading work in the field of zeo\u00adlite crys\u00adtal chem\u00adistry, adsorp\u00adtion and catal\u00ady\u00adsis and for his orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion\u00adal lead\u00ader\u00adship. Dr. Olson has been involved in zeo\u00adlite research for over 40 years, includ\u00ading 33 years at Mobil and since then has served as Adjunct Pro\u00adfes\u00adsor at the Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty of Penn\u00adsyl\u00adva\u00adnia and more recent\u00adly at Rut\u00adgers Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty. Illus\u00adtra\u00adtive of his many sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant sci\u00aden\u00adtif\u00adic and tech\u00adno\u00adlog\u00adi\u00adcal achieve\u00adments are his struc\u00adtur\u00adal works on rare earth X and Y zeo\u00adlites, ZSM-5 and their appli\u00adca\u00adtion to petro\u00adchem\u00adi\u00adcal process\u00ades, includ\u00ading the use of ZSM-5 as a xylene iso\u00admer\u00adiza\u00adtion cat\u00ada\u00adlyst. He is cofounder of the Struc\u00adture Com\u00admis\u00adsion of the Inter\u00adna\u00adtion\u00adal Zeo\u00adlite Asso\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtion and served as its chair for over six years. In addi\u00adtion, he orga\u00adnized and for many years chaired the North East Cor\u00adri\u00addor Zeo\u00adlite Asso\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtion (NECZA).
