In par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar, his work on impor\u00adtant petro\u00adchem\u00adi\u00adcal process\u00ades con\u00adtributed to the fun\u00adda\u00admen\u00adtal under\u00adstand\u00ading of met\u00adal cat\u00ada\u00adlysts and enabled the upgrad\u00ading and con\u00adver\u00adsion of for\u00admer waste streams to valu\u00adable chem\u00adi\u00adcals. In his more recent work he pro\u00admot\u00aded the use of X-ray absorp\u00adtion spec\u00adtro\u00adscopies to under\u00adstand the cor\u00adre\u00adla\u00adtion of prepa\u00adra\u00adtion to struc\u00adture and func\u00adtion of het\u00adero\u00adge\u00adneous cat\u00ada\u00adlysts. He hold 48 patents and authored more than 100 peer reviewed pub\u00adli\u00adca\u00adtion in the field of catal\u00ady\u00adsis.<\/p>\n<p>Miller grad\u00adu\u00adat\u00aded with a Ph.D. in Inor\u00adgan\u00adic Chem\u00adistry from Ore\u00adgon State Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty in 1980. He joined Amo\u00adco Oil Com\u00adpa\u00adny (now BP Chem\u00adi\u00adcals) in 1980 where he pro\u00adgressed through var\u00adi\u00adous lead\u00ader\u00adship posi\u00adtions in the research orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion. In June 2008, he joined Argonne Nation\u00adal Lab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adto\u00adry where cur\u00adrent\u00adly holds the posi\u00adtion of Group Leader of the Het\u00adero\u00adge\u00adneous Catal\u00ady\u00adsis pro\u00adgram.<\/p>\n<p>The Excel\u00adlence in Catal\u00ady\u00adsis Award lec\u00adture will take place on  May 20<sup>th<\/sup> where Miller will also receive a plaque and cash award.
