The Award for Dis\u00adtin\u00adguished Ser\u00advice in the Advance\u00adment of Catal\u00ady\u00adsis is spon\u00adsored by the North Amer\u00adi\u00adcan Catal\u00ady\u00adsis Soci\u00adety<\/a>. It is award\u00aded bien\u00adni\u00adal\u00adly in even num\u00adbered years. The Award con\u00adsists of a plaque, an hon\u00ado\u00adrar\u00adi\u00adum of $5,000, and par\u00adtial sup\u00adport ($1000) for trav\u00adel to the meet\u00ading where the award is pre\u00adsent\u00aded. The Award will be pre\u00adsent\u00aded for the first time at the 2011 North Amer\u00adi\u00adcan Meet\u00ading of the Catal\u00ady\u00adsis Soci\u00adety.<\/p>\n

The Award rec\u00adog\u00adnizes an indi\u00advid\u00adual who has advanced cat\u00adalyt\u00adic chem\u00adistry or engi\u00adneer\u00ading through a com\u00adbi\u00adna\u00adtion of sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant ser\u00advice to the catal\u00ady\u00adsis com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty and tech\u00adni\u00adcal accom\u00adplish\u00adments. Ser\u00advice may include teach\u00ading, men\u00adtor\u00ading, edi\u00adto\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal, and orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion\u00adal activ\u00adi\u00adties, as well as lead\u00ader\u00adship in the orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion of con\u00adfer\u00adences and work\u00adshops. These activ\u00adi\u00adties must have ben\u00ade\u00adfit\u00aded specif\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly the North Amer\u00adi\u00adcan catal\u00ady\u00adsis com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty and more gen\u00ader\u00adal\u00adly the field at large.<\/p>\n

Elec\u00adtion of the awardee will be made with\u00adout regard to age, sex, nation\u00adal\u00adi\u00adty, or affil\u00adi\u00ada\u00adtion. The nom\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtion must con\u00adtain a crit\u00adi\u00adcal eval\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion of the sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcance of candidate\u2019s achieve\u00adments and a spe\u00adcif\u00adic state\u00adment about the ser\u00advice and tech\u00adni\u00adcal con\u00adtri\u00adbu\u00adtions on which the nom\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtion is based. Nom\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtion doc\u00adu\u00adments (short sum\u00adma\u00adry state\u00adment of the con\u00adtri\u00adbu\u00adtions (300 words); cur\u00adricu\u00adlum vitae; one nom\u00adi\u00adnat\u00ading let\u00adter and no more than two let\u00adters of sup\u00adport) must be sent as a sin\u00adgle elec\u00adtron\u00adic PDF file to the Pres\u00adi\u00addent of the Soci\u00adety (Enrique Igle\u00adsia; iglesia@\u200bberkeley.\u200bedu<\/a>).
