Theodore A. Koch Graduate Student Travel Award 2025 \u2014 2026<\/h3>\n

\n\"Theodore
\nThe Catal\u00ady\u00adsis Club of Philadel\u00adphia (CCP) is tak\u00ading appli\u00adca\u00adtions for the Theodore A. Koch Stu\u00addent Trav\u00adel Award for the cur\u00adrent 2025- 2026 meet\u00ading sea\u00adson. The award is spon\u00adsored in mem\u00ado\u00adry of T.A Koch to rec\u00adog\u00adnize and reward grad\u00adu\u00adate stu\u00addent achieve\u00adments in catal\u00ady\u00adsis research. T. A. Koch (1925\u20132014) was a chemist who worked at DuPont and spent his entire career devel\u00adop\u00ading chem\u00adi\u00adcal process\u00ades and bring\u00ading them from the bench\u00adtop to com\u00admer\u00adcial\u00adiza\u00adtion with marked cre\u00adativ\u00adi\u00adty and tenac\u00adi\u00adty. The award will pro\u00advide finan\u00adcial sup\u00adport to the award\u00aded grad\u00adu\u00adate stu\u00addents up to the amount of $1000 to attend a con\u00adfer\u00adence of their choice. The amount can be used to cov\u00ader reg\u00adis\u00adtra\u00adtion fees and\/or trav\u00adel expens\u00ades.

\nA Past Chair of the CCP and employ\u00adee of DuPont, Koch was wide\u00adly rec\u00adog\u00adnized as an inno\u00adva\u00adtor in the sci\u00adence and appli\u00adca\u00adtion of catal\u00ady\u00adsis. Notable tech\u00adni\u00adcal accom\u00adplish\u00adments in Koch\u2019s career includ\u00aded devel\u00adop\u00ading a new cat\u00ada\u00adlyst for nitrous oxide destruc\u00adtion (an ozone-deple\u00adtion byprod\u00aduct from Nylon man\u00adu\u00adfac\u00adture), devel\u00adop\u00ading a new process for hydro\u00adgen cyanide man\u00adu\u00adfac\u00adture, and improv\u00ading many poly\u00admer inter\u00adme\u00addi\u00adates process\u00ades. Koch received the Award for Excel\u00adlence in Cat\u00adalyt\u00adic Sci\u00adence and Tech\u00adnol\u00ado\u00adgy from the Catal\u00ady\u00adsis Club of Philadel\u00adphia in 1994 and the Lavoisi\u00ader Medal for Tech\u00adni\u00adcal Excel\u00adlence from DuPont in 1998. Ted always strived to grow and devel\u00adop young sci\u00aden\u00adtists, and this trav\u00adel award is a small effort to con\u00adtin\u00adue his lega\u00adcy of believ\u00ading in the next gen\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion of sci\u00aden\u00adtists.<\/p>\n

Grad\u00adu\u00adate stu\u00addents who are mem\u00adbers of the CCP and have paid the annu\u00adal dues. Selec\u00adtion will be based on the poten\u00adtial impact of the trav\u00adel award on the student\u2019s career goals, finan\u00adcial need, and over\u00adall mer\u00adit. (The com\u00adplet\u00aded appli\u00adca\u00adtion form should not exceed three pages.) The attached appli\u00adca\u00adtion form is due March 27th, 2026, and the win\u00adners will be announced at our CCP Sym\u00adpo\u00adsium-Stu\u00addent Poster Joint Con\u00adfer\u00adence.<\/p>\n
