NECZA History and Meeting Philosophy — NECZA is an outgrowth of discussions held after sessions at the 1997 Zeolite and Layered Materials Gordon Conference, Chaired by Charles Kresge. NECZA seeks to maximize discussion and interactions between the scientists who are attending the meeting. As such, the technical program tends to be a bit flexible with contributions from a variety of backgrounds.

Traditionally, speakers are encouraged to prepare “provocative” talks and to rigorously keep the time for their talk which includes 10 to 15 minutes discussion time. The audience is STRONGLY encouraged to “participate” (even, for example, by bringing 1 — 2 overheads related to the talks to open up discussion).

The poster session and graduate student talks have been a staple of NECZA meetings. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to ‘get their feet wet’ in a relatively friendly setting.

We very much look forward to another fruitful and engaging NECZA meeting, made possible by your participation. The NECZA meeting serves as a nice cap to the year’s activities and we look forward to catching up with you all and hearing about your nice work at this December tradition.

Please forward this note on to your colleagues, or any others you feel might have interest, and don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions.

For registration and additional information, please contact Joseph Fedeyko (fedeyjm@jmusa.com) or visit our website at www.necza.org

We hope to see you at the NECZA meeting on Friday, December 13th, 2013.

2008 NECZA Meeting: First Call for Papers

Dear NECZA members and friends,

The holiday season is around the corner, and so is our annual NECZA meeting. It is my honor to organize the 2008 program along with Travis Holman, David Olson, Ned Corcoran, Long Pan, and Chris Cahill. As before, David Olson has reserved the same meeting room, Lynch hall, at the Chemistry Department of the University of Pennsylvania for Friday, December 12, 2008. Thus, we can still meet following the traditions developed during the past years, thanks to David. We look forward to exciting talks and posters with vigorous discussions.

We are inviting talks and posters on all facets of zeolite science. Anyone is entitled to present a lecture or poster. We reserve the right to limit the number of presentations or to shift lectures and posters, to optimize balance among various subjects in our field. If you wish to present a paper or a poster, please send an Abstract to haiming.liu@arkema.com no later than November 21, 2008. Please specify your preference (presentation/poster) in the submission and the name of the presenter. When submitting the Abstract, please include files using both MicroSoft Word (doc) and Adobe Acrobat (PDF) formats.

NECZA 2007 Second Announcement and Call for Papers

Dear Zeolite and Porous Material Enthusiasts,

A reminder that the NorthEast Corridor Zeolite Association will have its annual meeting on Friday, December 7 at the University of Pennsylvania. Registration is now open and you may submit an abstract by November 23rd. We have a number of confirmed speakers (as part of our special recognition of David Olson -see below), yet will chose additional oral presentations from the submitted abstracts. Of course, always room for posters.

2007 is the 10th anniversary of NECZA. For the past decade, our friend and colleague David Olson has been serving as the local host for NECZA. He turned 70 early this year. We are dedicating the morning session to David, celebrating his contributions to molecular sieve science and technology, and his long service to the zeolite community. A few of David’s colleagues from over the years have already agreed to speak. David is honored. Other parties interested in giving a talk or saying a few words about David at the session may contact the organizers.

Details regarding registration, abstract submission and anything else we can think of are at www.necza.org.

Thanks and we look forward to seeing you in December!
