Cop\u00adper-exchanged zeo\u00adlites are promis\u00ading as selec\u00adtive cat\u00adalyt\u00adic reduc\u00adtion cat\u00ada\u00adlysts for the direct con\u00adver\u00adsion of NO into N<sub>2<\/sub> and O<sub>2<\/sub>, and recent reports have shown the enhanced per\u00adfor\u00admance of Cu-CHA cat\u00ada\u00adlysts over oth\u00ader zeo\u00adlite frame\u00adworks in the NO decom\u00adpo\u00adsi\u00adtion of exhaust gas streams.<\/p>\n<p>In the present study, Rietveld refine\u00adment of vari\u00adable-tem\u00adper\u00ada\u00adture XRD syn\u00adchro\u00adtron data obtained for Cu-SSZ-13 and Cu-SSZ-16 is used to inves\u00adti\u00adgate the loca\u00adtion of cop\u00adper cations in the zeo\u00adlite pores and the effect of tem\u00adper\u00ada\u00adture on these sites and on frame\u00adwork sta\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty. The XRD pat\u00adterns show that the ther\u00admal sta\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty of SSZ-13 is increased sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant\u00adly when cop\u00adper is exchanged into the frame\u00adwork com\u00adpared with the acid form of the zeo\u00adlite, H-SSZ-13. Cu-SSZ-13 is also more ther\u00admal\u00adly sta\u00adble than Cu-SSZ-16. From the refined dif\u00adfrac\u00adtion pat\u00adterns, the atom\u00adic posi\u00adtions of atoms, cop\u00adper loca\u00adtions and occu\u00adpan\u00adcies, and ther\u00admal dis\u00adplace\u00adment para\u00adme\u00adters were deter\u00admined as a func\u00adtion of tem\u00adper\u00ada\u00adture for both zeo\u00adlites. Cop\u00adper is found in the cages coor\u00addi\u00adnat\u00aded to three oxy\u00adgen atoms of the six-mem\u00adbered rings.
