Abstract<\/strong> \u2014 In this pre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtion, I will pay trib\u00adute to the late Robert K. Gras\u00adsel\u00adli, a tru\u00adly extra\u00ador\u00addi\u00adnary sci\u00aden\u00adtist who served as a ded\u00adi\u00adcat\u00aded men\u00adtor to many indus\u00adtri\u00adal sci\u00aden\u00adtists and engi\u00adneers, as well as a num\u00adber of aca\u00add\u00ade\u00admics, such as myself. The pri\u00adma\u00adry focus of his research was on improv\u00ading gen\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtions of com\u00adplex oxide cat\u00ada\u00adlysts for pro\u00adduc\u00adtion of acry\u00adloni\u00adtrile by ammox\u00adi\u00adda\u00adtion of propy\u00adlene through much of his career, and of propane in the lat\u00ader years. The Sohio chem\u00adi\u00adcal catal\u00ady\u00adsis group, which Gras\u00adsel\u00adli lead for many years, suc\u00adceed\u00aded in devel\u00adop\u00ading and steadi\u00adly improv\u00ading the rev\u00ado\u00adlu\u00adtion\u00adary SOHIO process for using mul\u00adti\u00adcom\u00adpo\u00adnent bis\u00admuth molyb\u00addates to pro\u00adduce a 50-fold increase in pro\u00adduc\u00adtion of acry\u00adloni\u00adtrile, a plat\u00adform chem\u00adi\u00adcal used for mak\u00ading syn\u00adthet\u00adic fibers and ABS plas\u00adtics. He became Senior Sci\u00adence Fel\u00adlow at the Sohio Com\u00adpa\u00adny in Cleve\u00adland, and end\u00aded his career there in 1985 after about 25 years of ser\u00advice. This was fol\u00adlowed by 3 years as Direc\u00adtor of the Chem\u00adistry Divi\u00adsion at the Office of Naval Research. From there, he moved to Mobil Research and Devel\u00adop\u00adment Cor\u00adpo\u00adra\u00adtion in Prince\u00adton, where he worked until 1995.<\/p>\n
