The use of organo-cation tem\u00adplate mol\u00ade\u00adcules to pro\u00advide struc\u00adture direc\u00adtion has giv\u00aden rise to a num\u00adber of nov\u00adel zeo\u00adlites in recent years, lead\u00ading to break\u00adthroughs in zeo\u00adlite syn\u00adthe\u00adsis and pro\u00advid\u00ading an impe\u00adtus in devel\u00adop\u00ading new process chem\u00adistry. As a con\u00adse\u00adquence, the under\u00adstand\u00ading of zeo\u00adlite struc\u00adtures and the struc\u00adture-prop\u00ader\u00adty rela\u00adtion\u00adships has become not only of basic aca\u00add\u00ade\u00adm\u00adic inter\u00adest but also one of the most crit\u00adi\u00adcal tasks in bring\u00ading the indus\u00adtri\u00adal appli\u00adca\u00adtions of these mate\u00adri\u00adals to suc\u00adcess\u00adful fruition.<\/p>\n<p>In this paper I will first present a brief overview of Chevron\u2019s zeo\u00adlite R<span class=\"amp\">&amp;<\/span>D. Then the empha\u00adsis will be placed on zeo\u00adlite catal\u00ady\u00adsis for down\u00adstream refin\u00ading appli\u00adca\u00adtions such as hydro\u00adc\u00adrack\u00ading, hydroi\u00adso\u00admer\u00adiza\u00adtion and MTO (methanol to olefins). Here the char\u00adac\u00adter\u00adi\u00adza\u00adtion of zeo\u00adlites via cat\u00adalyt\u00adic test reac\u00adtions and physisorp\u00adtion plays an impor\u00adtant role. The hydro\u00adc\u00adrack\u00ading and hydroi\u00adso\u00admer\u00adiza\u00adtion of paraf\u00adfins such as n-hexa\u00adne, n-decane and n-hexa\u00adde\u00adcane as well as MTO will be dis\u00adcussed as exam\u00adples for the inves\u00adti\u00adga\u00adtion of the cat\u00adalyt\u00adic prop\u00ader\u00adties of a series of zeo\u00adlites (e.g., Y, mor\u00adden\u00adite, fer\u00adrierite, ZSM-5, ZSM-12, ZSM-22, ZSM-48, TNU-9, SSZ-25, SSZ-26, SSZ-32, SSZ-33, SSZ-56, SSZ-57, SSZ-75, SSZ-87 and SSZ-98) and some new exam\u00adples of shape selec\u00adtiv\u00adi\u00adties of zeo\u00adlite catal\u00ady\u00adsis will be demon\u00adstrat\u00aded. Fur\u00adther\u00admore, our stud\u00adies on the vapor phase physisorp\u00adtion of a series of hydro\u00adcar\u00adbon adsor\u00adbates with vary\u00ading mol\u00ade\u00adcule sizes for a wide spec\u00adtrum of zeo\u00adlite struc\u00adtures will be report\u00aded.
