While at Yale, he co-authored a sem\u00adi\u00adnal work explain\u00ading strong met\u00adal-sup\u00adport inter\u00adac\u00adtions on Rh\/TiO<sub>2<\/sub> cat\u00ada\u00adlysts that sub\u00adse\u00adquent\u00adly became a Cur\u00adrent Con\u00adtents Cita\u00adtion Clas\u00adsic. After grad\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion from Yale, he joined the chem\u00adi\u00adcal engi\u00adneer\u00ading depart\u00adment of the Nation\u00adal Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty of Mar del Pla\u00adta, Argenti\u00adna, even\u00adtu\u00adal\u00adly serv\u00ading as depart\u00adment chair. In 1991 he returned to the US as Senior Sci\u00aden\u00adtist at the Sun Com\u00adpa\u00adny, and in 1993 he joined the School of Chem\u00adi\u00adcal, Bio\u00adlog\u00adi\u00adcal and Mate\u00adri\u00adals Engi\u00adneer\u00ading at the Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty of Okla\u00adhoma where he is now the George Lynn Cross Research Pro\u00adfes\u00adsor and Dou\u00adglas <span class=\"amp\">&amp;<\/span> Hil\u00adda Bourne Chair of Chem\u00adi\u00adcal Engi\u00adneer\u00ading.<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Resasco\u2019s research in het\u00adero\u00adge\u00adneous catal\u00ady\u00adsis has always aimed at impor\u00adtant appli\u00adca\u00adtions, but has been strong\u00adly ground\u00aded in fun\u00adda\u00admen\u00adtals of struc\u00adture-prop\u00ader\u00adty rela\u00adtion\u00adships and char\u00adac\u00adter\u00adi\u00adza\u00adtion of cat\u00ada\u00adlysts and mech\u00ada\u00adnisms. Ini\u00adtial\u00adly, his research pro\u00adgram exam\u00adined strong sol\u00adid acid catal\u00ady\u00adsis and sup\u00adport\u00aded met\u00adal catal\u00ady\u00adsis for hydro\u00adcar\u00adbon pro\u00adcess\u00ading. In the late 90s, Resasco\u2019s group began inves\u00adti\u00adga\u00adtion of het\u00adero\u00adge\u00adneous cat\u00adalyt\u00adic syn\u00adthe\u00adsis of sin\u00adgle-wall car\u00adbon nan\u00adotubes, dis\u00adcov\u00ader\u00ading that care\u00adful con\u00adtrol of the cat\u00ada\u00adlyst nanos\u00adtruc\u00adture enabled unprece\u00addent\u00aded chi\u00adral selec\u00adtiv\u00adi\u00adty in the nan\u00adotubes.<\/p>\n<p>Their work led to the patent\u00aded CoMo\u00adCat process, capa\u00adble of scale\u00adup to indus\u00adtri\u00adal pro\u00adduc\u00adtion, and a spin\u00adoff com\u00adpa\u00adny, South\u00adWest Nan\u00adoTech\u00adnolo\u00adgies. More recent\u00adly, Resasco\u2019s work on upgrad\u00ading of bio\u00admass-derived com\u00adpounds led to the devel\u00adop\u00adment of Janus nanopar\u00adti\u00adcle cat\u00ada\u00adlysts which simul\u00adta\u00adne\u00adous\u00adly sta\u00adbi\u00adlize high inter\u00adfa\u00adcial area emul\u00adsions and car\u00adry out upgrad\u00ading reac\u00adtions in both the aque\u00adous and organ\u00adic phas\u00ades. This work was ini\u00adtial\u00adly report\u00aded in Sci\u00adence in Jan\u00adu\u00adary, 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Resas\u00adco has authored well over 200 archival jour\u00adnal arti\u00adcles which have been cit\u00aded over 8,000 times, 32 indus\u00adtri\u00adal\u00adpatents, and over 120 invit\u00aded lec\u00adtures.
