The Organ\u00adic Reac\u00adtions Catal\u00ady\u00adsis Soci\u00adety announces its Call for Papers in advance of the 23rd ORCS Con\u00adfer\u00adence March 14\u201318, 2010 in Mon\u00adterey, CA. Addi\u00adtion\u00adal\u00adly, the Soci\u00adety announces an agree\u00adment with Springer Pub\u00adlish\u00ading to pub\u00adlish the pro\u00adceed\u00adings of the 23rd Con\u00adfer\u00adence in the jour\u00adnal, Top\u00adics in Catal\u00ady\u00adsis. ORCS has a long tra\u00addi\u00adtion of pub\u00adlish\u00ading its pro\u00adceed\u00adings in book for\u00admat as a ser\u00advice to the sci\u00aden\u00adtif\u00adic com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty. Recent sur\u00adveys of ORCS mem\u00adber\u00adship revealed a desire for greater vis\u00adi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty and elec\u00adtron\u00adic acces\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty of the ORCS pro\u00adceed\u00adings. In response, ORCS has forged the agree\u00adment with Top\u00adics in Catal\u00ady\u00adsis for pub\u00adli\u00adca\u00adtion of the pro\u00adceed\u00adings, index\u00ading by major abstract ser\u00advices, elec\u00adtron\u00adic acces\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty of con\u00adtent through Springer\u00eds web\u00adsite and, as a bonus, all ORCS atten\u00addees will receive a hard bound issue of the ORCS Pro\u00adceed\u00adings. We wel\u00adcome feed\u00adback on this change from all mem\u00adbers (email: chair@\u200borcs.\u200borg<\/a>). Those con\u00adsid\u00ader\u00ading sub\u00admit\u00adting abstracts \/ man\u00adu\u00adscripts will be inter\u00adest\u00aded to know that three focus top\u00adics will be: catal\u00ady\u00adsis applied to chem\u00adi\u00adcal pro\u00adduc\u00adtion from biore\u00adnew\u00adable resources, C-X cou\u00adpling reac\u00adtions and hydro\u00adgena\u00adtion catal\u00ady\u00adsis. These top\u00adics will form the basis for spe\u00adcial ses\u00adsions, in addi\u00adtion to the tra\u00addi\u00adtion\u00adal scope of ORCS con\u00adfer\u00adences.<\/p>\n

At each bien\u00adni\u00adal con\u00adfer\u00adence of the ORCS two tech\u00adni\u00adcal awards may be con\u00adferred by the Soci\u00adety for excel\u00adlence if the field of catal\u00ady\u00adsis applied to organ\u00adic prod\u00aducts: the Mur\u00adray Raney Award and the Paul Rylan\u00adder Award. The lat\u00adter is an annu\u00adal award and two awardees may be rec\u00adog\u00adnized at the con\u00adfer\u00adence. Nom\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtions, com\u00adpris\u00ading a CV and two sup\u00adport\u00ading let\u00adters, are due Sept 8, 2010 to chair@\u200borcs.\u200borg<\/a>. At the 23rd Con\u00adfer\u00adence, ORCS will spon\u00adsor an edu\u00adca\u00adtion\u00adal course: Hydro\u00adgena\u00adtion: An Indis\u00adpens\u00adable Tool. This three hour course will be pre\u00adsent\u00aded Tues\u00adday Mar 16, 2010 at the con\u00adfer\u00adence hotel and will be taught by lead\u00aders from the chem\u00adi\u00adcal indus\u00adtry. Course top\u00adics span het\u00adero\u00adge\u00adneous and homo\u00adge\u00adneous catal\u00ady\u00adsis, as well as, safe\u00adty in the catal\u00ady\u00adsis lab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adto\u00adry and pilot plants or scale-up lab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adto\u00adries. The course will be pro\u00advid\u00aded for a nom\u00adi\u00adnal fee to con\u00adfer\u00adence atten\u00addees and is also avail\u00adable as a one day reg\u00adis\u00adtra\u00adtion.
