Her\u00adman Pines was an out\u00adstand\u00ading research sci\u00aden\u00adtist, and his work rev\u00ado\u00adlu\u00adtion\u00adized the gen\u00ader\u00adal under\u00adstand\u00ading of organ\u00adic chem\u00adistry, par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar\u00adly the chem\u00adistry of hydro\u00adcar\u00adbons inter\u00adact\u00ading with strong acids. The Award in his hon\u00ador is co-spon\u00adsored by UOP, where Her\u00adman Pines began his indus\u00adtri\u00adal career in 1930 and amassed 145 US patents, and by the Catal\u00ady\u00adsis Club of Chica\u00adgo of which Her\u00adman Pines was a found\u00ading mem\u00adber.<\/p>\n<p>The Award will be pre\u00adsent\u00aded at the 2012 Catal\u00ady\u00adsis Club of Chica\u00adgo Spring Sym\u00adpo\u00adsium and con\u00adsists of a plaque, a cash award of $1,000 and reim\u00adburse\u00adment for trav\u00adel and lodg\u00ading as a ple\u00adnary speak\u00ader at the Spring Sym\u00adpo\u00adsium.<\/p>\n<p>The nom\u00adi\u00adnee must meet the fol\u00adlow\u00ading cri\u00adte\u00adria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Great achieve\u00adments of catal\u00ady\u00adsis research <strong>in the past five years<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>For year 2012, the award will be giv\u00aden to an Indus\u00adtri\u00adal researcher<\/li>\n<li>Active mem\u00adber in catal\u00ady\u00adsis com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty<\/li>\n<li>A res\u00adi\u00addent of North Amer\u00adi\u00adca<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Dead\u00adline for nom\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtion is Feb\u00adru\u00adary 29, 2012<\/strong><\/em>. Nom\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtion should describe the spe\u00adcif\u00adic work for which the nom\u00adi\u00adnee should be rec\u00adog\u00adnized.
