\nThe Catal\u00ady\u00adsis Club of Philadel\u00adphia<\/span> would like to announce the open\u00ading of our upcom\u00ading sea\u00adson on Sep\u00adtem\u00adber 22nd<\/sup>, 2011 at the Dou\u00adble\u00adtree Hotel in Wilm\u00ading\u00adton, DE. For over 50 years, the Catal\u00ady\u00adsis ClubCatal\u00ady\u00adsis Club of Philadel\u00adphia<\/span> award, Pro\u00adfes\u00adsor Chun\u00adshan Song from Penn State Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty. Prof. Song was rec\u00adog\u00adnized at the 2011 Spring Sym\u00adpo\u00adsium for his accom\u00adplish\u00adments to the field of catal\u00ady\u00adsis on sul\u00adfur removal from hydro\u00adcar\u00adbon mix\u00adtures and hydro\u00adcar\u00adbon con\u00adver\u00adsion for ener\u00adgy ori\u00adent\u00aded process\u00ades. His award sem\u00adi\u00adnar will be titled \u201cOxy\u00adgen Enhanced Water Gas Shift Over Bimetal\u00adlic Cat\u00ada\u00adlysts for More Effi\u00adcient Hydro\u00adgen Pro\u00adduc\u00adtion\u201d. Our pro\u00adgram will then con\u00adtin\u00adue on Octo\u00adber 13th<\/sup> and will fea\u00adture Roy Peri\u00adana from the Scripps Research Insti\u00adtute and in April will fea\u00adture the Bur\u00adwell Award win\u00adner Johannes Lercher from TU M\u00fcchen. Also in Octo\u00adber, we will hold our annu\u00adal stu\u00addent poster com\u00adpe\u00adti\u00adtion, coor\u00addi\u00adnat\u00aded by Michael Smith of Vil\u00adlano\u00adva Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty, an announce\u00adment will fol\u00adlow short\u00adly with the call for abstracts. As in the past, the poster com\u00adpe\u00adti\u00adtion will be open to all under\u00adgrad\u00adu\u00adate, grad\u00adu\u00adate and post-doc\u00adtor\u00adal stud\u00adies with the top grad\u00adu\u00adate stu\u00addent poster speak\u00ading at the Spring Sym\u00adpo\u00adsium.<\/p>\n

This year we have already expe\u00adri\u00adenced two sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant changes to our month\u00adly meet\u00adings. The first is a change in venue. Meet\u00adings will now be held at the Dou\u00adble\u00adtree Hotel in Wilm\u00ading\u00adton, DE off of US202 North. Direc\u00adtions to the loca\u00adtion are in a sep\u00ada\u00adrate attach\u00adment and will be pro\u00advid\u00aded with each meet\u00ading noti\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtion this year. By mov\u00ading, we have been able to main\u00adtain our meal costs. Din\u00adner will be $35.00 for mem\u00adbers, $20.00 for students\/retirees and will include one drink dur\u00ading the social hour. Walk-ins and non-mem\u00adbers din\u00adner fees will be $40.00. We strong\u00adly encour\u00adage advance reser\u00adva\u00adtions for the meet\u00adings.<\/p>\n

Addi\u00adtion\u00adal\u00adly, the Nation\u00adal Club has increased stan\u00addard club dues for this sea\u00adson. For club mem\u00adbers, dues will increase to $25.00 ($5.00 for the local club and $20.00 to the nation\u00adal club). Dues for stu\u00addents will increase to $10.00 ($5.00 for the local club and $5.00 to the nation\u00adal club). You can pay your dues to your com\u00adpa\u00adny rep\u00adre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtive, to our trea\u00adsur\u00ader (Steve Har\u00adris), or at the month\u00adly meet\u00adings.
